Settlement and Hunt Board – Assembly Instructions

Kingdom Death Monster Settlement and Hunt Board

Introduction

Thanks for looking at the alternative Settlement and Hunt board for Kingdom Death Monster.  If you are struggling to assemble the board, please use the instructions below for a little helping hand.

The parts of this kit are designed to be a very tight fit, and may be difficult to push together, be careful not to damage components with too much force.  The MDF version should push together snugly, and is less brittle than the acrylic version.  If you are still struggling to make a piece fit, double check the instructions, and if necessary, trim the tabs very slightly with a craft knife.  Customers who have purchased the acrylic version may have to trim the thickness of some locating tabs.  This is due to more variation in the thickness of cast acrylic. Double check these instructions before shaving down any tabs.

Equipment and Preparation

MDF Version

  • Glue, either wood glue (PVA) or 2-part epoxy resin.
  • Craft knife (optional)
  • Sandpaper (optional)
  • Masking tape (optional)

Before shipping, burn marks from the cutting process are removed from visible engravings by sanding.  Any further marks, for example on the rear of pieces, can be cleaned up with some sandpaper.  Engravings which are not clear may have dust from sanding trapped in them, use a soft cloth (slightly damp if necessary) and rub gently across the engraving to clean it out.

Acrylic version

  • Glue, either 2-part epoxy resin (best) or superglue/cyanoacrylate (more difficult).
  • Craft knife (optional)
  • Microfibre cloth (optional)
  • Masking tape (optional)

White dust may be visible from the engraving process. This can be cleaned off with warm water and a soft microfibre cloth.  Acrylic parts may have a protective film on one or both sides of the part, these can be peeled off.

Assembly

Please read through all of these instructions completely before attempting to glue your board together. When gluing, take care of which edges will be visible on the assembled board and do not put glue on these edges.

Caution: run through these instructions again and dry fit the components (i.e. without gluing them) to check that everything fits together as you expect!

Tokens

Tokens

  1. Locate the three tokens, their four pegs, and an internal support of the board (one of the ones labelled “This side up”).
  2. Places the tokens face down on your work surface, and place the internal support on top of them.  We are going to use the internal support to hold the pegs at the correct height whilst the glue dries.  Wrap the support in masking tape if you are concerned that you might make a mess with the glue.
  3. In turn glue around the outer edges of the peg.  You will only need a tiny amount of glue!
  4. Push the peg through the hole, ensuring that it is the correct way around (all the parts in the above image are correctly orientated).
  5. Rest the peg on the internal support whilst the glue dries
  6. Repeat for all of the pegs.

Main Board

Read + Supports

  1. Locate the three parts shown in the above diagram, namely the rear of the board, and two internal supports.
  2. Starting with the bottom support (shown in red), apply glue to the top edge of this part. Place glue along the main edges that make contact with the rear piece, rather than on the tabs themselves.  This will prevent glue pushing out to the back and sticking the board to your work surface!
  3. Slot the bottom support into the slots shown in red.  The text stating “This side up” should be facing towards the top of the board.
  4. Repeat steps 2 and 3 with the green piece into the green slots.
  5. Locate the Hunt track. Hunt Track
  6. Glue along the top of the green support.  Once again, don’t glue on the actual tabs, as it will leak through to the front
  7. Glue along the thin bottom edge of the hunt track, glue on these tabs shouldn’t be visible, so don’t worry about it.
  8. Slot the hunt track into the slots marked in blue on the bottom support, then push the top of the track onto the top support (green slots and tabs).
  9. Locate the Principles board.Principles Board
  10. Glue along the thin bottom edge of the principles board, glue on the tabs shouldn’t be visible, so don’t worry about it.
  11. Slot the principles board into the slots marked in purple on the top support.  Support it if necessary whilst the glue dries.
  12. Locate the front piece. Front piece
  13. Glue along the thin front edge of the bottom support (the red part), being careful not to get glue on the tabs because you do not want this to squeeze through to the front.
  14. Push the front piece onto the supports.
  15. Wait for the glue to dry, then turn the board over.
  16. Locate the rear supports. Rear Supports
  17. Glue along the edge of the rear supports and finally slot them into the rear of the board.

Once all the glue has dried, enjoy a few more lantern years of Kingdom Death with your faster Hunt and Settlement Board setup!
